2010 Vauxhall Astra 1.7L Diesel · AV10 BVA

A consistent record of roadworthiness defines this vehicle, with a notable absence of defects or advisories across several years of testing. This stability is evidenced by the clean pass on 22 December 2023, following a brief failure the previous day, and reflects a vehicle that has remained mechanically compliant with DVSA standards without recurring issues. The recorded mileage of 116,602 miles over a sixteen year period represents an average annual accumulation of approximately 7,288 miles. This usage pattern is typical for a vehicle of this age and suggests a balanced history of regular use rather than extreme long-distance commuting or prolonged periods of stagnation. Mechanically, this implies a moderate level of wear on the drivetrain and suspension components consistent with its age. Given the absence of flagged defects in the MOT history, there are no specific recurring failures such as suspension bush degradation or brake line corrosion to target. However, a physical inspection should still verify the condition of the consumables that may not have triggered an advisory, focusing on the smoothness of the gear transitions and the absence of any unusual vibrations through the steering wheel at motorway speeds. During the test drive, attention should be paid to the operational integrity of the chassis and engine. Listen for any knocks or clunks over uneven surfaces that could indicate early wear in the suspension linkages, and ensure the brake pedal remains firm without judder, confirming that the clean testing record translates to real-world performance.
