2003 Kawasaki VN800 0.8L Petrol · AY03 BJZ

The vehicle presents a stable but aging profile with a recurring mechanical issue that has persisted for several years. The most recent MOT test on 29 May 2026 at 16,204 miles resulted in a pass, yet the tester flagged a noisy exhaust. This specific defect has appeared in every annual test since April 2024, indicating a long-term trend of exhaust system degradation or loose mounting hardware that has not been rectified. The mileage accumulation is exceptionally low for a 23-year-old motorcycle, averaging approximately 705 miles per year. The records show a significant period of low usage between 2018 and 2021, where mileage only increased by 1,304 miles over three years. While low mileage suggests minimal drivetrain wear, the extended periods of standing can lead to issues with rubber seals, fuel degradation, and seized components that are not always captured by a standard MOT inspection. A prospective buyer should focus heavily on the exhaust system to determine if the noise is due to a minor mounting issue or significant internal baffle damage. Given the history of tyre and chain advisories in 2016, a thorough inspection of the drive chain tension and sprocket wear is necessary. Additionally, because the vehicle has been used sparingly, the condition of the tyres and any age-related degradation of the suspension seals and brake fluid should be verified through a physical inspection.
