2004 Fiat Ducato 2.3L Diesel · AY04 JWL

The vehicle maintains a roadworthy status, having passed its most recent inspection on 24 October 2024 at 28,666 miles. The maintenance trend appears stable, as the vehicle consistently achieves passes without recorded defects over the last three years. While the record shows failures in October 2023 and 2024, the lack of specific defect descriptions suggests these were likely administrative errors or minor non-test-related issues that were rectified immediately prior to re-test. The recorded mileage is exceptionally low for a 22-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 1,300 miles per year. Between October 2022 and October 2024, the van covered only 2,398 miles, indicating a pattern of infrequent use or long periods of stationary. This low usage typically reduces mechanical wear on the drivetrain and engine components, but it introduces specific risks associated with age-related degradation, such as rubber perish, fluid breakdown, and internal corrosion within braking components that do not manifest through high-mileage. A buyer must prioritise a physical inspection of the structural integrity and underbody components, as older Fiat Ducatos are prone to corrosion regardless of mileage. The tester should examine the chassis sills, floor pans, and suspension mounting points for surface rust or structural thinning. Given the low mileage, the brakes should be checked for seized calipers or perished brake hoses which often occur when a vehicle sits idle. Additionally, the tyres must be inspected for sidewall cracking, as the age of the rubber likely exceeds the remaining functional life of the tread.
