2011 Honda Insight 1.3L Other · BJ11 ADX

The 2011 Honda Insight has maintained a clean MOT history across three consecutive tests, all passing without defects or advisories. The most recent inspection on 26 September 2023—at 212,880 miles—confirms the vehicle remains roadworthy under current DVSA standards, though the gap since then (nearly three years) means no recent professional assessment has been conducted. There is no evidence of recurring mechanical issues, but the absence of advisories does not preclude hidden wear, particularly in high-mileage components like suspension bushes, coil springs, or brake calipers. The recorded mileage of 212,880 miles over 15 years equates to an average of 14,192 miles annually, which is well above the typical UK annual average for this age of vehicle. The most rapid accumulation occurred between the 2021 and 2022 tests, where mileage jumped by 29,350 miles in just over a year. This suggests either intensive use or periods of neglect, both of which could accelerate wear on consumables like tyres, brakes, and suspension. The consistent passing of MOTs without defects implies the vehicle was likely maintained at a basic level to meet legal requirements, but there is no guarantee of proactive servicing beyond that. Given the high mileage and extended period since the last MOT, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of suspension components—particularly the rear bushes and coil springs—where fatigue becomes more likely. The brakes, though not flagged in past tests, warrant close examination for uneven wear or binding calipers, especially if the vehicle has been driven hard. Tyre tread depth and lateral wear should also be checked, as the rapid mileage accumulation could indicate uneven loading or underinflation. Structural integrity, particularly around wheel arches and sills, should be assessed for corrosion, as this model is prone to rust in high-mileage examples. Finally, the exhaust system and emissions should be inspected for leaks or excessive smoke, as these are common failure points in older Honda Insights.
