2012 Ford Fiesta 1.6L Petrol · BK12 KUN

The vehicle presents a stable but deteriorating maintenance profile regarding its suspension and chassis components. While it has passed every annual test since 2015, the most recent inspection on 24 March 2026 at 34,382 miles shows an accumulation of advisories. Specifically, the tester flagged worn suspension component pins or bushes on both the nearside and offside rear, alongside corrosion on both rear coil springs. This indicates a worsening trend in wear and tear on the rear suspension assembly compared to the clean record seen in 2024. The mileage history shows an exceptionally low usage pattern, averaging approximately 2,456 miles per year over its 14-year lifespan. The vehicle has progressed from 13,929 miles in 2015 to 34,382 miles in 2026. This low annual mileage often correlates with vehicles that spend significant time stationary, which can accelerate certain types of degradation. The record confirms consistent annual testing, though the slow mileage accumulation means mechanical components like brakes and tyres are subject to age-related decay rather than heavy frictional wear. A prospective buyer must prioritize a physical inspection of the rear suspension and chassis. The recurring advisories for rear coil spring corrosion, appearing in 2022, 2023, and again in 2026, suggest that surface rust is progressing. You should check the structural integrity of these springs to ensure they are not nearing a failure point. The repeated mentions of worn suspension bushes since 2023 also indicate that the rubber components are perishing, which will eventually impact handling and cause knocking noises. The braking system also requires attention. The 2023 test noted pitted or scored front brake discs, and the 2022 test recorded similar issues. While these were not failures, they suggest the discs have been subject to corrosion from sitting idle. Check the current condition of the front discs and pads to ensure they are not excessively pitted or thin. Given the low mileage, ensure that the tyres are not only within legal tread limits but also free from sidewall cracking caused by long periods of inactivity.
