2016 Ford Kuga 2.0L Diesel · CA65 PNN

The vehicle is currently roadworthy but the maintenance history reveals a worsening trend in reactive rather than proactive care. While the most recent test in November 2025 at 83,137 miles passed, it followed an immediate failure due to basic consumable issues including wiper blades, a bulb, and tyres. The transition from a clean record in late 2023 to multiple failures in 2024 suggests that the owner has only begun addressing faults once they threatened an MOT pass result. At 83,137 miles over ten years, the Kuga averages approximately 8,300 miles per year, which is consistent with typical UK usage patterns for its age. However, the gap between the December 2023 test at 69,446 miles and the November 2024 test at 75,734 miles shows only 6,000 miles driven in eleven months. This period coincides with the appearance of several mechanical and structural defects, indicating that components may be suffering from age despite the lower annual mileage. A buyer must prioritise a physical inspection of the rear sub-frame, which was flagged for corrosion in November 2025. Although the tester noted it was not seriously weakened, the presence of rust alongside corroded rear coil springs and misting shock absorbers from 2024 indicates an environment of moisture or salt neglect. The front suspension arm bushes previously identified as worn in 2024 should be checked for excessive play, as these have likely progressed since the last advisory. The 2024 failure regarding exhaust emissions and a suspected exhaust leak requires a thorough check of the manifold and joining points to ensure the issue was properly rectified. Given the history of tyres worn to the legal limit or sustaining sidew damage, the buyer should verify the current depth and condition of all four tyres. The recurring oil leak noted in late 2024 also warrants monitoring to ensure it hasn't developed into a significant mechanical failure.
