2017 Honda VFR 0.8L Petrol · CJ17 WMF

This Honda VFR presents a remarkably clean MOT history, with every test since 2022—including the most recent on 5 March 2026 at 20,200 miles —showing no advisories or defects. The consistent pass rate over four consecutive annual inspections suggests the vehicle has been well maintained, with no signs of recurring mechanical or structural issues. The absence of even minor advisories (such as tyre tread or fluid levels) is unusual for a car of this age and mileage, implying either meticulous upkeep or, more likely, minimal use. There is no evidence of worsening problems; instead, the trend is one of stability, with no red flags in critical areas like brakes, suspension, or emissions. The mileage progression is highly unusual for a nine-year-old vehicle, averaging just 2,244 miles per year —well below the UK average for a bike of this class. The recorded figures— 7,830 miles in 2022 , 10,471 in 2023 , 14,030 in 2024 , and 20,200 in 2026 —reveal a pattern of very light use, with some years showing almost no mileage accumulation. This could indicate storage periods, seasonal use, or simply a low-mileage owner. While low mileage typically reduces wear on consumables, it also raises questions about the bike’s long-term storage conditions, particularly regarding rubber components (seals, hoses) and battery health, neither of which are reflected in the MOT records. Given the lack of recorded issues, a prospective buyer should still verify a few key areas in person. The suspension—specifically the rear shock absorbers and linkage bushes—should be checked for stiffness or leaks, as these can degrade even with minimal use. Brakes, though not flagged, warrant inspection for uneven pad wear or binding calipers, especially if the bike has sat unused for extended periods. Structural corrosion is less likely on a Honda VFR, but any signs of rust around the frame mounts, exhaust brackets, or subframe should be closely examined. The absence of MOT advisories on tyres suggests they may have been replaced recently, but tread depth and sidewall condition should still be confirmed, as low-mileage bikes can develop dry-rotting rubber if stored improperly. Finally, the electrical system—including the battery and wiring—should be tested, as stagnant conditions can lead to hidden corrosion or voltage drops.
