2011 Volkswagen Polo 1.2L Diesel · CK61 OBP

The vehicle presents a concerning roadworthiness profile characterized by a recurring pattern of immediate MOT failures. While the most recent test on 10 April 2026 at 116,691 miles resulted in a failure with no specific defects listed in the summary, the historical data indicates a cycle of reactive maintenance rather than proactive upkeep. The trend is currently unstable as the car has consistently failed its initial test across the last three years, suggesting that the owner only addresses faults when forced to pass legal inspections rather than maintaining high mechanical standards. At 116,691 miles, the Polo has averaged approximately 7,780 miles per year over its fifteen-year life, which aligns with national averages for a car of this age. The mileage progression between tests is consistent, with roughly 6,000 miles covered between April 2024 and April 2025, and another 5,100 miles recorded between April 2025 and April 2026. This regularity suggests standard road use, yet the repeated failures despite low annual mileage imply that specific components are reaching the end of their functional life prematurely. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the components most likely to trigger these unrecorded-style failures. Given the history of immediate failures, the suspension bushes, coil springs, and engine mounts should be checked for perished rubber or excessive play. The braking system requires close scrutiny for binding calipers or thin discs, as these are common causes for sudden MOT failures that do not always appear as minor advisories. Furthermore, the structural integrity of the sills and floor pans must be verified for corrosion, as fifteen-year-old Volkswagen chassis are prone to hidden rust that can lead to a catastrophic failure if left untreated.
