2008 Ford Transit 2.4L Diesel · CX58 WNN

The vehicle is currently roadworthy, but the maintenance history reveals a trend of deferred repairs regarding minor wear items. The most recent test in March 2025 at 119,956 miles resulted in an initial failure due to a nearside stop lamp, tyre wear, and mechanical issues. While the vehicle passed immediately after rectification, the persistence of advisories regarding corrosion on the offside front wing and stiff door operation suggests that the owner only addresses faults once they reach failure thresholds rather than performing preventative maintenance. At 18 years old, the recorded mileage of 119,956 miles represents an annual average of approximately 6,600 miles, which is consistent with a commercial vehicle of this age. The data shows steady usage between test intervals, with roughly 11,200 miles covered between March 2024 and March 2025, and 12,500 miles between March 2023 and 2024. This consistent mileage suggests the vehicle has not sat stationary for long periods, protects rubber components from degradation. A buyer must inspect the front suspension closely, as the anti-roll bar ball joints and dust covers have appeared as recurring advisories since 2022. The progression from deteriorated dust covers in 2023 to play in the joints by 2024 indicates the suspension components are nearing the functional limit. The handbrake travel noted in 2024 also requires physical verification to ensure the mechanism is not seizing or requiring adjustment beyond standard limits. Structural attention is required on the offside front wing where corrosion was flagged in 2025. Given the age of the Transit, this rust could indicate deeper penetration. The driver's seat belt webbing was noted as frayed in the latest test, which should be checked for structural integrity to ensure it meets safety standards. The front doors should also be tested for hinge wear or frame misalignment caused by previous stress.
