2018 Volkswagen Caravelle 2.0L Petrol · CX68 ODE

The Caravelle presents a currently roadworthy status following a passed MOT on 13 February 2026 at 100,658 miles with no defects recorded. The maintenance trend appears stable on paper, though the history shows a failed test on the same date at identical mileage before the pass, and an earlier failed test on 4 July 2024 at 88,776 miles with no defects logged prior to a pass on 12 July 2024 at 88,793 miles. These paired fail-pass entries on the same or adjacent dates suggest administrative or presentation anomalies rather than progressive mechanical decline, and no advisories or faults were carried between tests. At roughly eight years old the van has covered 100,658 miles, equating to about 12,582 miles per year which is high for a 2018 Caravelle and points to consistent commercial or private touring use. Mileage moved from 72,897 at the July 2023 test to 88,776 by July 2024, then to 100,658 by February 2026, showing steady annual accumulation of around 12,000 to 14,000 miles with no long standing periods. The DVSA record is sparse, listing only passes and two defect-free fails, so no wear-driven consumable or structural issues were formally flagged across the timeline. A buyer should still commission an in-person inspection of suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake discs given the high annual mileage and age, as MOT tests with no advisories do not confirm component life remaining. The twin fail-pass events on 4 and 12 July 2024 and on 13 February 2026 warrant a check of the VOSA failure reasons or garage records, since a no-defect fail often indicates a documentation or emissions equipment read error rather than owner neglect. Verify structural integrity underneath for corrosion and examine tyre tread depth and wiper condition as routine consumables on a high-mileage van.
