2021 Ford Transit Connect 1.5L Diesel · CY21 ACZ

The most recent MOT test conducted on 12 June 2025 resulted in a pass with no recorded defects, following a similarly clean result in June 2024. This indicates a stable and positive maintenance trend, suggesting the vehicle has been maintained to a standard that meets all essential safety and environmental requirements. The absence of any advisories in the recent history is a strong indicator that there are currently no immediate concerns regarding the structural integrity, braking efficiency, or lighting systems of the vehicle. With 38,832 miles recorded over approximately five years, the vehicle has averaged roughly 7,766 miles per year. This is relatively low mileage for a light commercial vehicle of this type, implying that it has likely been used for lighter-duty tasks or shorter trips rather than heavy-duty or high-frequency commercial haulage. While lower mileage generally suggests less mechanical wear on the engine, gearbox, and suspension components, it also means the vehicle may have experienced periods of standing, which can introduce different types of degradation. Given the clean MOT record and the specific mileage profile, your inspection should focus on age-related issues rather than heavy wear. Closely examine the tyres for any signs of perishing, such as sidewall cracking or fine cracks in the tread grooves, which can occur when a vehicle is driven infrequently. You should also check the brake discs for heavy corrosion or pitting and ensure that the calipers are not binding, as components can sometimes seize if they are not regularly exercised. It is also prudent to verify the condition of the 12V battery, as batteries can degrade if the vehicle has sat idle for extended periods. Finally, ensure that the vehicle has been serviced according to the manufacturer's time-based intervals rather than just mileage intervals. This is crucial for ensuring that engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid have been replaced to prevent chemical degradation. During a test drive, pay close attention to the suspension for any clunks or knocks when traversing uneven surfaces, which could indicate that rubber bushes or mountings are perishing due to age. Checking the drive belts for any signs of cracking or hardening will also be a vital step in assessing the long-term reliability of the vehicle.
