2005 Toyota Yaris 1.0L Petrol · DE05 VEO

The vehicle remains roadworthy based on its most recent 2025-12-05 MOT, which passed with no defects recorded at 172,663 miles. The maintenance trend shows stability over the past three years, with all tests from 2022 to 2025 passing without issues. However, the 2023-10-19 test failed despite no defects being noted, suggesting a potential procedural anomaly or unrecorded fault. The lack of recurring mechanical issues in subsequent tests implies consistent upkeep, though the 21-year-old age and high mileage warrant closer scrutiny of wear-prone components. The mileage progression reflects uneven usage, with 13,053 miles added between 2022-10-05 and 2023-10-26, followed by 18,851 miles in the subsequent 14 months. This acceleration raises questions about driving conditions, as higher mileage typically increases wear on brakes, suspension, and drivetrain components. The 2024-12-07 test at 170,181 miles showed no defects, but the 2025-12-05 test’s 2,482-mile increase over 12 months suggests reduced activity, possibly due to seasonal use or storage. The sparse data from 2023-10-19, where a failure occurred without recorded defects, complicates the assessment of long-term reliability. A buyer should inspect the suspension for worn bushes or coil springs, as high mileage often leads to degradation. Brake components, including discs and calipers, should be checked for uneven wear or corrosion, particularly given the 2023-10-19 failure. Rust, especially on underbody panels or chassis, is a risk for a 21-year-old vehicle. While the MOT history shows no critical issues, the lack of detailed defect records from the 2023 failure and the car’s age necessitate a thorough pre-purchase inspection to confirm the absence of hidden structural or mechanical faults.
