2007 Honda Civic 1.8L Petrol · DE07 YBC

This Honda Civic has maintained a consistent MOT pass record over the past five annual tests, with no defects or advisories recorded in any of the most recent examinations. The December 2025 test at 106,540 miles confirms the vehicle remains roadworthy under current DVSA standards, though the absence of any recorded issues—even minor—suggests either meticulous maintenance or a vehicle that has deferred significant wear. The lack of advisories or failings over this period indicates no recurring mechanical trends, though this does not preclude hidden wear or deferred servicing beyond MOT scope. The recorded mileage of 106,540 miles over nearly nineteen years reflects an exceptionally low annual average of approximately 5,600 miles. This suggests either infrequent use or prolonged periods of storage, which could impact components like battery health, tyre degradation, and suspension fluid condition. Notably, the mileage increments between tests are consistent—around 4,000 miles annually—without sudden spikes or prolonged gaps, which might otherwise raise concerns about neglect or irregular servicing. The uniformity of mileage suggests the vehicle has not been subjected to aggressive driving conditions, but it also implies some components may have been less stressed than average, potentially masking underlying issues. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an inspection of high-wear items that fall outside MOT testing parameters. The suspension—particularly coil springs, bushes, and dampers—should be examined for uneven wear or corrosion, as these are critical for handling and safety despite not being MOT-tested. Brake components, including calipers, pads, and discs, warrant close scrutiny, as binding or uneven wear could have gone unnoticed without a fail. Additionally, the battery, fluid levels (brake, power steering, coolant), and tyre tread depth—despite passing MOT—should be verified, as these are often overlooked in low-mileage vehicles. Structural corrosion, especially around wheel arches and sills, is another critical area to assess, given the vehicle’s age. The absence of MOT advisories does not guarantee these areas are intact.
