2015 Porsche Cayman 3.4L Petrol · DM15 LVM

The 2015 Porsche Cayman’s latest DVSA MOT test on 2026-01-08 resulted in a clean pass, maintaining a consistent record of no recorded defects or advisories across the preceding eight annual examinations. This unbroken series of compliant MOT results suggests a stable maintenance regime, with no evidence of recurring mechanical failures or persistent issues that might indicate underlying wear progression or neglect. The vehicle’s performance in these tests aligns with its age and typical Porsche Cayman reliability, though the absence of advisories or minor defects does not preclude potential hidden wear or long-term degradation that may only become apparent through a thorough pre-purchase inspection. The recorded mileage of 24,597 miles over approximately 11 years represents a relatively low annual usage rate of around 2,236 miles per year, which is notably lower than the average for vehicles of this age and model. Such low mileage can stem from either infrequent driving, long periods of stationary use, or a more leisurely ownership pattern. However, this usage profile raises concerns regarding potential issues related to standing corrosion, particularly in the brake systems, suspension components, and undercarriage, where prolonged inactivity can accelerate deterioration. Additionally, low mileage may mask wear on consumables like brake pads, tyres, and fluids, which could have degraded over time due to calendar-based aging rather than mechanical use. For a prospective buyer, the most critical physical checks should focus on the vehicle’s structural integrity and components prone to standing corrosion. Begin with a thorough inspection of the brake system, paying particular attention to the front discs and rear linings for signs of corrosion, binding calipers, or uneven wear patterns that could indicate hidden damage or reduced braking efficiency. Listen for any grinding noises during a test drive, as this may signal worn brake pads or metal-on-metal contact, and check for a consistent, firm brake pedal feel without excessive travel or sponginess. The suspension should be examined for any signs of play or excessive clunking, particularly around the control arms, coil springs, and suspension bushes, which may indicate wear or damage from prolonged inactivity. Beyond the mechanical systems, the tyres should be scrutinised for sidewall perishing or cracking, which can compromise their structural integrity and safety, especially in older vehicles. Inspect the tyre tread depth and look for irregular wear patterns that might suggest misalignment or suspension issues. The 12V battery and associated electrical systems should be tested for functionality, as low usage can lead to battery degradation or parasitic drain issues. Finally, given the vehicle’s age, the fluid levels—particularly the engine oil, differential fluid, and brake fluid—should be checked for freshness and condition, with a recommendation to replace them if they have not been serviced within the manufacturer’s suggested intervals. Additionally, verify the presence of service book stamps or maintenance records to confirm adherence to Porsche’s recommended maintenance schedule, which may include timing belt replacement, valve adjustment, and other critical intervals.
