2014 Honda Jazz 1.2L Petrol · DU64 SVE

The 2014 Honda Jazz presents a stable and improving mechanical picture as of its most recent MOT on 12 September 2025, when it passed with zero defects at 23,759 miles. That clean sheet is significant because it follows a 2024 test where the tester flagged a light oil misting on the nearside rear shock absorber. The absence of any repeat advisory in 2025 suggests that component either settled or, more likely, was replaced, indicating a responsible owner willing to address faults rather than ignore them. The overall maintenance trend is therefore one of steady correction rather than neglect. The mileage profile tells a clear story of very light use. Across roughly twelve years, the car has covered just 23,759 miles, averaging under 2,000 miles per year. The annual increments are consistent and small: 1,401 miles between September 2021 and 2022, 1,609 between 2022 and 2023, 1,391 between 2023 and 2024, and 540 between 2024 and 2025. That sharp drop in the final year points to the car being used very sparingly or possibly standing for extended periods. Low mileage in itself is not a guarantee of condition; prolonged sitting can cause tyre perishing, brake surface corrosion, and dried-out rubber bushes, all of which are relevant here. The 2022 advisory for perished tyre sidewalls is a useful indicator of how the car was stored. Perishing from standing rather than wear from use suggests the tyres were aged in place, and any buyer should carefully inspect the current tyre date codes and sidewall condition regardless of remaining tread depth. The 2024 shock absorber advisory, now resolved, warrants a close physical check of the rear suspension. A buyer should compress the rear of the vehicle and listen for clunking from the top mounts, inspect the coil springs for sag or fracture, and examine the lower suspension bushes for deterioration. Even on a low-mileage car, twelve-year-old rubber components will have degraded with age. Beyond the flagged items, the underbody deserves particular attention given the car's age and the possibility of long stationary periods. A buyer should inspect the brake discs and pads for surface corrosion, check the exhaust system for corrosion at joints and box sections, and examine the subframe and suspension mounting points for any signs of rust or structural weakness. The clean 2025 result is encouraging, but it reflects a single snapshot. A physical inspection focused on age-related deterioration rather than mileage-related wear will give the most honest picture of this car's true condition.
