2015 Mazda 3 2.0L Petrol · EJ64 AFN

A pattern of consistent roadworthiness characterizes this vehicle, as evidenced by the most recent pass on 11 February 2026 which recorded no defects. The MOT history shows a stable trend over the last eight years, with the only recorded mechanical concerns being two consecutive advisories regarding the offside rear shock absorbers in 2023 and 2024. These advisories for light oil misting appear to have resolved or been addressed, as no further issues with the suspension or damping were noted in the subsequent 2025 or 2026 inspections. The recorded mileage of 51,540 miles against an eleven-year age profile indicates a low annual usage rate of approximately 4,685 miles. Such low mileage suggests the vehicle has been subject to infrequent road use, which can reduce wear on drivetrain components and braking systems but may also mean the vehicle has spent extended periods stationary. Mechanically, this low accumulation means that while many wear-and-tear components may have significant remaining life, rubber components like suspension bushes and seals should be inspected for age-related perishing rather than just mileage-based fatigue. Regarding the previous advisories for the offside rear shock absorbers, a prospective buyer should pay close attention to the rear suspension during a test drive. While the latest records show no current defects, it is prudent to check for any signs of renewed oil leakage around the shock absorber body or mounting points. Listen for any knocking, clunking, or irregular thumping sounds when driving over uneven surfaces or speed bumps, as these can indicate that the damping characteristics have degraded or that the internal valving is failing, despite the absence of visible leaks. Beyond the shock absorbers, the lack of recorded failures or advisories regarding structural integrity, such as subframe corrosion or brake pipe degradation, is a notable aspect of the history. However, given the low annual mileage, a physical inspection of the underside is advisable to check for any surface corrosion that may have developed during periods of inactivity. During the test drive, ensure the vehicle tracks straight under light braking to rule out any binding calipers or uneven pad wear that might not have been captured in the recent clean MOT results.
