2016 DS DS3 1.2L Petrol · ET65 AGY

The DS3’s most recent MOT test on 16 July 2025—just under a year ago—confirmed full roadworthiness with no defects recorded at 87,219 miles. This marks a consistent pattern of clean passes across all five tests since 2022, with no advisories or repeat failures. The absence of any major mechanical or structural concerns in the official record suggests the vehicle has been maintained at a basic level, though the lack of advisories does not preclude hidden wear. The final pass in July 2025 aligns with the vehicle’s typical annual mileage of around 8,700 miles, implying no sudden acceleration in deterioration. Mileage progression shows a steady, predictable accumulation with no unusual gaps or spikes. The 5,771 miles between the 2024 and 2025 tests and the 5,774 miles between 2023 and 2024 reflect consistent usage, while the 5,742 miles logged in 2022 suggests no prolonged periods of neglect. The recorded mileage at each test confirms the vehicle has not been left stationary for extended periods, which could have exacerbated corrosion or suspension degradation. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of high-wear components that are not routinely tested. The suspension—particularly rear coil springs and bushes—should be examined for uneven sagging or excessive play, as these are common areas for gradual failure in this age range. Binding rear brakes, a frequent issue on this model, warrant a dynamic test for uneven pad wear or seized calipers, even though no advisories were recorded. Corrosion checks are essential, focusing on wheel arches, sills, and subframe areas, where salt ingress over ten years could compromise structural integrity. While the MOT record provides reassurance, the absence of advisories does not guarantee all consumables are in optimal condition. Tyre tread depth and lateral wear patterns should be verified, as the vehicle’s age and mileage place it at risk of uneven degradation. Finally, a pre-purchase diagnostic scan for fault codes—even if the vehicle has passed MOTs—can reveal hidden issues such as catalytic converter efficiency or minor electrical faults that may escalate.
