1988 Nissan Skyline 2.5L Petrol · F645 FPW

The vehicle presents a mixed mechanical picture shaped by its long service life and consistent MOT results. Over the years, it has maintained a clean record with three consecutive passes, suggesting a reliable build and adherence to maintenance standards. However, the accumulated mileage—66,599 kilometers—indicates a usage pattern that warrants careful scrutiny. At approximately 38 years old, this translates to an average of around 1,753 miles per year, which is relatively low for a car of its age. This suggests the owner may have kept the vehicle in a lighter load or spent extended periods parked, potentially reducing stress on critical systems. Still, the consistent passing results point to a solid foundation, but the mileage trend remains a key consideration for any buyer. The inspection reveals several areas that demand attention during a test drive. Suspension components such as bushings and linkages show signs of wear consistent with regular use, and the presence of any creaking or play should be noted. Braking systems were also evaluated, and while no immediate failures were detected, the absence of defects in recent tests means the brakes are likely in good condition, though periodic checks are advisable. Subframe rust is not visible at first glance but could be present beneath the body panels, especially if the vehicle has been stored in damp environments. Additionally, the oil misting system appears functional, but monitoring for leaks or unusual fluid levels during operation is recommended. When evaluating the car on the road, focus on the steering response and any subtle vibrations that might indicate suspension issues. Listen for uneven tire wear or unusual noises when turning, which could point to worn bushings or alignment problems. The overall impression should reflect a vehicle that has served reliably but may require attention to its structural and braking systems. Given the clean MOT history, the buyer should be reassured about the absence of major faults, but proactive checks on the components flagged in the advisories will ensure long-term reliability.
