The most recent MOT on 15 May 2026 was a pass, but it flagged the nearside front tyre as being worn right up to the legal limit. Just four days earlier the same car failed its MOT because of a cluster of serious faults: rear brake pads were below the minimum thickness, the nearside rear service brake was excessively binding, the nearside front coil spring was fractured, and the same front tyre was already at the wear limit. These failures are not isolated. In the 2025 MOT the car showed a coolant leak and both front and rear brake pads were reported as “wearing thin”. In 2024 the MOT notes an imbalance in the front brakes that required adjustment, a cracked nearside rear tyre, a cut off‑side rear tyre, and a binding off‑side front service brake. Earlier in 2024 a further tyre‑cracking issue was recorded. The pattern is clear: recurring brake wear and binding, progressive tyre damage, and now a structural suspension fault (the broken coil spring). The trend is therefore worsening rather than stabilising. Over the last two years the issues have moved from “just meeting requirements” to outright failures that required the car to be taken off the road. If the underlying causes – such as worn brake components, mis‑adjusted calipers, or deteriorating suspension bushings – are not addressed, the risk of further safety‑critical failures will continue to rise.
