2021 Aprilia RX 125 0.1L Petrol · FE71 MPZ

The most recent official DVSA MOT test for this 2021 Aprilia RX 125 was conducted on 31 July 2026 and recorded a PASS result with no defects or advisories logged against the vehicle. Although the MOT history on file is limited to this single entry, the clean outcome at the point of test provides a baseline indicator that the motorcycle was considered roadworthy under the relevant statutory inspection criteria at that date. With no recorded advisories or failure items from which to plot a trend, the maintenance profile appears stable based on the evidence available. A prospective buyer should, however, be mindful that a single PASS entry is insufficient to confirm long-term mechanical condition, particularly given the low recorded mileage and the age of the machine. With only 374 miles recorded over an approximate five-year period, this RX 125 has covered around 75 miles per year on average, which is exceptionally low even for a learner or weekend-use machine. Such limited annual usage strongly suggests prolonged periods of standing or storage between rides, which carries its own set of mechanical implications quite distinct from those of a regularly used motorcycle. Internally corroded steel fuel tanks, varnished or stale fuel within the carburettor or fuel injection system, degraded two-stroke or four-stroke lubricant where applicable, oxidised electrical contacts, and seized brake caliper pistons are all common outcomes of underuse rather than wear. The very low mileage also means that major drivetrain, suspension, and braking components have experienced minimal mechanical cycling, so age-related degradation of seals, hoses, and mountings is more relevant than mileage-based wear thresholds. From a practical inspection standpoint, the tyres warrant particular attention given that they are likely original or near-original factory items, with rubber compounds that perish and crack from UV exposure and ozone over time irrespective of tread depth. Sidewall checks for brittleness, hairline cracking, and any flat-spotting from prolonged standing should be carried out carefully, and the date code on the tyre sidewall should be reviewed to confirm the rubber is within a sensible service life, typically no more than five years for active use. The braking system should be examined for corroded or pitted brake discs, particularly around the perimeter and friction surfaces, and the calipers should be checked for free movement as binding pistons are a frequent consequence of infrequent use. All brake lines, including any flexible hoses, should be inspected for cracking or hardening of the outer casing, and brake fluid condition verified, as hygroscopic fluid degrades on a calendar basis and should be renewed regardless of mileage. The 12-volt battery is arguably the most critical component to assess on a low-mileage motorcycle of this age, as repeated shallow discharges from infrequent use without a maintenance charger will significantly reduce its service life. A load test or voltage check under cranking conditions is advisable, and any signs of a bulging case, corroded terminals, or difficulty holding charge should be treated as a near-term replacement item. Fuel system checks should include inspection for stale fuel, evidence of rust within the tank, and proper operation of the carburettor or injection system upon startup, as poor running, stalling, or an unwillingness to tick over cleanly are common first symptoms after extended storage. Finally, the prospective buyer should review the service book or any available documentation to confirm that time-based service items such as fork oil, engine oil, coolant where applicable, drive chain condition and lubrication, and spark plug renewal have been attended to in line with the manufacturer's calendar schedule rather than solely on a mileage basis, and a thorough test ride should be conducted to identify any suspension clonks, irregular running, or brake pull that would not necessarily be captured by a standard MOT inspection.
