2009 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4L Petrol · FN59 KVC

A clean and uninterrupted record of MOT passes over four consecutive annual tests from 2022 through July 2025, with no advisories or defects recorded on any occasion, marks this 2009 Vauxhall Corsa as a notably consistent performer in terms of official roadworthiness. The most recent test on 22 July 2025 returned a pass with no defects, continuing an identical pattern seen in 2024, 2023, and 2022. For a vehicle now around seventeen years old, the absence of any flagged corrosion, suspension wear, brake component concerns, or exhaust issues across four consecutive inspections is an encouraging indicator that the car has not yet begun to exhibit the typical MOT failure patterns associated with cars of this vintage, such as corroded brake pipes, worn coil springs, or deteriorating suspension components. Against an age of roughly seventeen years, the recorded mileage of 69,245 miles equates to an average accumulation of approximately 4,073 miles per annum, which is well below the typical usage rate for a Corsa of this generation. Such low annual mileage is characteristic of a second car, a short commuter vehicle, or one that has experienced periods of extended standing. There are no significant gaps between testing dates or anomalous jumps in mileage across the recorded history, suggesting consistent light use rather than long-term storage followed by a sudden return to service. Mechanically, low annual mileage reduces wear on major drivetrain and engine components but can introduce its own concerns around rubber sealing deterioration, brake disc corrosion from infrequent use, and stale fluids, all of which are more likely to manifest as advisories at MOT than as outright failures. Given the absence of any recorded advisories, there is no specific component history to investigate, but a prospective buyer should still carry out a focused physical inspection of the areas most commonly responsible for late-life MOT failures on vehicles of this era. The brake pipes and underbody fuel lines should be checked for surface corrosion, particularly along the chassis rails and near mounting points, as steel brake lines on a seventeen-year-old car are prone to rust even when not yet flagged. The coil springs, front suspension struts, and wishbone bushes should be examined for cracking or sagging, and a test drive should include firm braking from speed to detect any judder, which would suggest brake disc lipping or distortion from infrequent heavy use. Steering should be checked for vagueness or knocking over uneven road surfaces, and the exhaust system should be inspected for corrosion at the joints and mounting rubber, given the age of the vehicle. On the road, particular attention should be paid to cold-start behaviour, as light use combined with short journeys can promote condensation in the engine oil and diluted fuel residue. The gearbox should be tested for smooth engagement in all gears, and the clutch should be assessed for any slipping under load on inclines, as low-mileage clutches can suffer from sticking components if the car has been used predominantly for very short trips. All fluids, including brake fluid, coolant, and engine oil, should be checked for age and condition, as these are not examined in depth during an MOT test. With no defects recorded across four years, this Corsa presents a clean baseline, but a thorough pre-purchase inspection focusing on age-related wear items and the consequences of light usage would be a prudent step before purchase.
