2003 Volkswagen Beetle 1.6L Petrol · FP03 NWY

The Volkswagen Beetle passed its most recent MOT on 14 January 2022 at 128,255 miles with no defects recorded, leaving it roadworthy at that point. The maintenance trend appears stable on paper, though the record is sparse and now over four years old relative to today's date of 8 July 2026. A prior failure on 6 January 2022 at 128,250 miles listed no defects, suggesting an administrative or unrecorded issue rather than a mechanical fault, with the car passing eight days later at near-identical mileage. The odometer shows just 128,255 miles across roughly 23 years, equating to about 5,576 miles per year. This is low for a 2003 vehicle and implies light use or extended periods off the road. The gap between the two January 2022 tests covers only five miles, while no earlier history is supplied, so we cannot track wear rates or rapid accumulation. The clean pass with no advisories means the tester raised no concerns on tyres, brakes, suspension bushes, or corrosion at that time. A buyer should still commission a physical inspection before purchase given the elapsed time since the last test. Standing for long periods can degrade tyres, seize brake calipers, and encourage structural rust on sills and subframes even when a prior MOT showed nothing. The lack of advisories in 2022 offers no insight into current coil spring or exhaust condition. Given the four-year lapse and low recorded mileage, verify the true standing history and confirm the cluster reading matches service records. Inspect for perished rubber, binding handbrake mechanisms, and underbody corrosion that a 2022 test would not capture today.
