2006 Toyota Yaris 1.3L Petrol · GJ06 OCC

This Toyota Yaris shows a stable roadworthiness trend over the past three MOT cycles, with the most recent test on 16 May 2025 confirming no defects and a clean pass. The vehicle has maintained compliance across all required systems—brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust emissions, and structural integrity—without advisories or repeated failures. The absence of recurring issues suggests the car has been kept in reasonable condition, though the long gap between the 2022 and 2023 tests (12 months) is unusual for a vehicle of this age and mileage. The recorded mileage of 117,412 miles over 20 years—approximately 5,871 miles annually—indicates light usage, which may explain the lack of severe wear. However, the near-identical mileage between the 2022 and 2023 tests (no progression) implies the vehicle may have been stationary or rarely driven during that period. This stagnation could accelerate deterioration in suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake components if not addressed. The 2022 failure on 25 March (though no defects were logged) is also noteworthy, as it suggests either a minor oversight or a temporary test anomaly. A buyer should prioritise an in-person inspection of the suspension geometry, particularly the rear bushes and coil springs, given the vehicle’s age and the potential for prolonged inactivity. Binding brake calipers or uneven wear on discs could indicate neglected servicing, while corrosion around wheel arches and underbody should be checked for structural compromise. The lack of advisories in recent tests does not preclude hidden issues—tyres, wiper blades, and fluid levels remain consumables that degrade over time regardless of MOT results. Given the low mileage but extended periods without movement, a thorough brake and suspension service is advisable before committing to purchase.
