2005 Subaru Forester 2.5L Petrol · GM05 BSV

Based on the limited MOT history provided, the vehicle passed its most recent test on June 12, 2025, with 70,929 miles recorded and no defects listed. However, with today being May 31, 2026, this MOT certificate is effectively at the end of its validity period, meaning you will likely need to arrange a new test immediately after purchase. The recorded mileage is exceptionally low for a 21-year-old vehicle, averaging just over 3,300 miles per year. While this suggests the engine and drivetrain may have experienced less mechanical stress than a higher-mileage example, it introduces a significant risk of degradation from under-use. Long periods of standing still can cause rubber components to perish, brake lines to corrode internally, and fluids to degrade, even if the car has not been driven far. Because the history only provides a single data point, it is impossible to establish a reliable trend for recurring mechanical issues or corrosion. The vehicle appears to be in a stable condition based on this isolated pass, but the lack of older records makes it difficult to verify how well it has been maintained throughout its life. Given the age and low usage, you should inspect the vehicle for evidence of deterioration caused by time rather than wear. Check the condition of all tyres for age cracks, regardless of tread depth, and examine the suspension bushes and rubber boots for perishing. Look closely at the brake system for seized calipers or corroded pipes, and ensure the service history reflects regular fluid changes despite the low annual mileage.
