2014 MINI Cooper 2.0L Diesel · GY63 WYM

The 2014 MINI Cooper presents a highly stable and positive maintenance trend, culminating in a completely clean bill of health at its most recent MOT. On 30 July 2025, at 20,584 miles, the tester recorded zero defects, indicating no immediate mechanical or structural concerns. This follows a pattern of consistent, trouble-free testing, suggesting the vehicle has been reliably maintained without recurring faults or escalating wear issues. The mileage pattern confirms exceptionally light use for a twelve-year-old vehicle, averaging roughly 1,715 miles annually. Between the June 2023 test at 19,804 miles and the July 2025 test at 20,584 miles, the car covered only 780 miles over two years. Such minimal accumulation points to short-trip commuting or prolonged stationary periods rather than high-mileage wear. While low mileage reduces drivetrain and brake component degradation, extended idling or infrequent use can introduce its own issues, such as battery drain, tyre flat-spotting, or moisture buildup in the exhaust and engine oil. Despite the clean recent record, the MOT history contains anomalies that warrant closer physical inspection. In both 2023 and 2024, the vehicle failed and passed on the exact same day with zero defects recorded. This typically indicates an initial test abort, possibly due to an inability to complete the exhaust emissions check or a fluid leak preventing the test from proceeding. A buyer should inspect the exhaust system for leaks or corrosion and check underneath for any signs of dripping oil or coolant. Given the ultra-low annual mileage, the condition of the tyres requires scrutiny; check the date codes, as rubber perishes with age rather than use, and examine the brake discs for surface corrosion caused by standing. Suspension bushes and coil springs should also be inspected for deterioration from prolonged stationary periods rather than mechanical fatigue.
