2017 Ford Galaxy 2.0L Diesel · HV17 KYC

The vehicle most recently passed its MOT on 12 August 2026 with no defects recorded. While the overall history shows a consistent pattern of passing, there was a notable increase in advisories during the August 2025 test, specifically regarding suspension components and tyre wear. The subsequent clean pass suggests that these items may have been rectified, indicating a maintenance trend that is currently stable but requires close scrutiny given the vehicle's extreme usage. The recorded mileage of 360,608 miles is exceptionally high for a nine year old vehicle, averaging approximately 40,000 miles per year. This level of utilization strongly suggests a life of long distance motorway travel or fleet service. While such usage often avoids the stop start wear of urban driving, the sheer volume of miles places immense stress on the engine, transmission, and chassis. Prospective buyers must recognize that the vehicle is well beyond the typical design life of many consumable components and structural mounts. Given the previous advisories for suspension arm ball joints and worn bushes, a thorough physical inspection of the front and rear suspension geometry is essential. During a test drive, listen for metallic clunks or knocks when traversing uneven surfaces or during low speed maneuvering, as these are hallmarks of failing joints and perishing bushes. The previous mention of uneven tyre wear on the front inner edges suggests a potential misalignment or worn steering rack components, so check the current tread depth and wear patterns across all four tyres to ensure the geometry has been corrected. Particular attention should be paid to the braking system following the February 2026 advisory regarding thin rear brake pads. Check for any shuddering under braking or an uneven pedal feel, which could indicate warped discs or binding calipers. Due to the extreme mileage, it is imperative to verify the service history for critical long term maintenance items, specifically the timing belt and water pump replacements, as well as the condition of the turbocharger and exhaust emissions system. Ensure that all fluid levels are correct and that there are no signs of oil seepage from the engine seals or gearbox.
