2012 Ford Fiesta 1.2L Petrol · HW62 HKP

The 2012 Ford Fiesta’s most recent MOT, conducted on 27 August 2025 at 63,230 miles, passed without any defects or advisories, confirming it met all current roadworthiness standards at that point. The vehicle’s consistent annual testing record—five consecutive passes between August 2022 and August 2025—indicates no recurring mechanical failures or structural issues were detected by the tester. However, the duplicate entry for 31 August 2022 (one pass, one fail at identical mileage) suggests either a clerical error or a brief oversight in scheduling, though no defects were recorded in either instance. The absence of advisories or repeated failures on critical components like suspension bushes, coil springs, or binding calipers implies the vehicle has not experienced progressive wear that would necessitate urgent attention. That said, the lack of any recorded faults does not preclude hidden issues—particularly in areas not routinely inspected by MOT testers, such as internal suspension wear or subtle corrosion. The recorded mileage of 63,230 miles over approximately 14 years—averaging around 4,500 miles annually—is notably low for a vehicle of this age, suggesting either minimal use or prolonged periods of inactivity. The gap between tests remains consistent at roughly one year, with no abrupt spikes or drops in mileage between 2022 and 2025. While low mileage can reduce wear on high-stress components like brakes and drivetrain, it may also indicate deferred maintenance, as some owners delay servicing when a vehicle is rarely driven. The absence of any mileage gaps exceeding 18 months—where corrosion risks increase—is a positive sign, though the vehicle’s storage history cannot be confirmed from these records alone. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of suspension components, particularly the rear bushes and coil springs, as these are common failure points in Fiestas of this era. The brakes, while not flagged in tests, should be checked for uneven wear or binding calipers, especially if the vehicle has been stood for extended periods. Tyres, though not recorded as failed, warrant scrutiny for uneven tread or internal damage, given the low mileage could mask subtle wear patterns. Structural integrity, particularly around wheel arches and sills, should be examined for corrosion, as even low-mileage vehicles can develop hidden rust if stored in damp conditions. The absence of advisories does not guarantee these areas are sound, so visual and functional checks are essential.
