2004 Vauxhall Astra 1.4L Petrol · KS53 ONO

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status, though the maintenance history indicates a pattern of reactive rather than proactive care. The latest test on January 3 2024 at 135,943 miles resulted in a failure with no recorded defects, suggesting the vehicle was made compliant immediately following the inspection. However, the history of immediate failures in January 2022 and January 2023 shows that previous owners only addressed faults when necessitated by the MOT tester rather than performing preventative maintenance between intervals. At 22 years old, the recorded mileage of 135,943 miles averages to approximately 6,179 miles per year. This is consistent with low-to-moderate annual usage, which typically reduces the wear on the drivetrain and engine components. The data shows a steady accumulation of mileage, with roughly 7,300 miles covered between January 2022 and January 2023, and another 8,139 miles between January 2023 and January 2024. This regularity suggests the car has not sat stationary for long periods, which helps prevent the degradation of rubber seals and fluid components. A buyer must focus their physical inspection on structural integrity and suspension components common to this generation of Astra. Given the history of failures without specific recorded defects, you should check for significant corrosion on the sills, rear arches, and subframe points which often leads to structural failures. The lack of advisories in the record is unusual for a vehicle of this age and mileage, suggesting testers may have overlooked minor wear. Inspect the brake calipers for binding and the condition of the suspension bushes to ensure no hidden mechanical issues are developing before the next test.
