2009 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2L Petrol · KS58 PXY

Recurring issues with braking components and suspension integrity define the mechanical profile of this Vauxhall Corsa, with the most recent MOT pass on 17 April 2026 following a failure earlier that month. A persistent pattern of advisories regarding pitted and scored front brake discs has been present in almost every test since 2023, indicating long-term surface degradation of the braking hardware. Furthermore, the vehicle has experienced recent failures related to shock absorber fluid leaks and suspension corrosion, suggesting that while the car is currently compliant, it is subject to ongoing wear in its chassis and damping systems. The vehicle has covered 111,177 miles over its approximately 17-year lifespan, which equates to an average annual usage of roughly 6,540 miles. This mileage accumulation is typical for a vehicle of this age and suggests a consistent, moderate usage pattern rather than heavy commercial use or long periods of stationary storage. Mechanically, this level of mileage means that components such as suspension bushes, shock absorbers, and braking systems are likely approaching the end of their service life, which is consistent with the specific defects recorded in the DVSA history. A prospective buyer should pay close attention to the front braking system and the rear suspension during a test drive. The repeated advisories for pitted and scored discs on both the nearside and offside front may result in pedal judder or vibrations through the steering wheel under braking. Additionally, the recent major failure for a nearside rear shock absorber fluid leak and the subsequent advisory regarding an insecure offside rear dust cover necessitate a thorough inspection of the rear damping. Listen for any knocking or clunking noises when driving over uneven surfaces or speed bumps, as these could indicate further deterioration of the shock absorbers or the suspension arms. The presence of corrosion on the offside front suspension arm, noted in the April 2026 test, also warrants scrutiny. While recorded as not seriously weakened at the time of testing, structural corrosion in suspension components can progress. During the test drive, check for any pulling to one side or imprecise steering response, which could signal issues with the front suspension geometry or worn bushes. Given the history of worn tyres and headlamp lens defects, a visual inspection of all lighting clarity and the remaining tread depth on all four tyres is also advised to ensure they meet current legal standards.
