2016 Audi Q7 3.0L Diesel · KW16 HGC

A pattern of intermittent consumable wear is the primary mechanical takeaway for this vehicle, following a period of clean records in 2025 and 2026. While the most recent test on 09 March 2026 resulted in a pass with no defects, the 2024 MOT history highlighted significant wear on braking components and tyres, specifically noting low front and rear brake pads alongside low front tyres. This indicates that while the vehicle is currently meeting minimum standards, it has previously operated near the threshold of required maintenance for its friction and contact components. The recorded mileage of 97,184 miles against a 2016 registration shows an average annual accumulation of approximately 9,718 miles. This usage profile is consistent with typical long-distance or mixed-use patterns for a vehicle of this age. Mechanically, this level of mileage suggests that components subject to regular friction and load, such as the braking system, suspension bushes, and tyre treads, are reaching mid-life wear stages, which aligns with the advisories noted in the 2024 inspection. Prospective buyers should focus their physical inspection on the braking system and tyre condition. Given the 2024 advisories regarding low pads, it is essential to check for any signs of brake disc scoring or uneven pad wear. During a test drive, pay close attention to the brake pedal feel for any pulsation or judder, which could indicate warped discs, and listen for any squealing or grinding noises during low-speed deceleration. The recent absence of advisories suggests these items may have been addressed, but the mechanical integrity of the calipers and discs remains a priority. Tyre wear should also be scrutinised, particularly on the front axle, to ensure the 2024 advisory regarding low tread depth has been fully rectified with appropriate replacements. Check for any uneven wear patterns on the inner or outer edges of the tyre tread, as this can indicate underlying issues with wheel alignment or suspension geometry. Additionally, while no specific suspension defects were recorded, the mileage warrants a close look at the condition of the shock absorbers and bushings; listen for any knocking or clunking sounds when navigating uneven surfaces or speed bumps to ensure the chassis remains stable.
