2004 Toyota Hiace 2.5L Diesel · LD54 AJV

The 2004 Toyota Hiace has demonstrated stable roadworthiness in its most recent MOT on 2025-10-13 at 135,468 miles, with no defects recorded. Previous tests show a consistent pattern of passing, including a failure in 2024-10-26 that also listed no defects, suggesting a technical anomaly rather than a mechanical issue. The absence of critical failures in the last three years indicates the vehicle has been maintained to a standard meeting legal requirements, though no major repairs or recurring faults are documented. Mileage progression aligns with typical usage for a 22-year-old vehicle, averaging 6,158 miles annually. The records show a steady increase from 133,771 miles in 2022 to 135,468 miles in 2025, with no significant gaps or spikes in usage. The 2023-10-21 test at 134,254 miles and the 2024-11-02 test at 134,896 miles confirm a regular inspection schedule, though the 2024-10-26 failure occurred just six days prior to a subsequent pass, raising questions about the consistency of testing outcomes. While no structural or mechanical defects are explicitly noted, the vehicle’s age necessitates scrutiny of suspension components such as bushes and coil springs, which may show wear given the mileage. Brake systems, including calipers and discs, should be checked for binding or corrosion, as these are common issues in older vans. Buyers should also verify the exhaust system and body integrity for rust, as these areas often degrade over time without visible indicators in MOT records.
