2011 Lexus RX450H 3.5L Hybrid electric · LF60 AHN

An unusually low annual mileage profile defines this vehicle's history, with the most recent recorded MOT pass on 19 October 2015 showing a single advisory regarding a nearside rear shock absorber with light oil misting. The testing trend appears stable, moving from a windscreen wiper failure in 2014 to a pass with a minor suspension advisory in 2015. While the record is relatively sparse, the transition from a mechanical failure to a minor advisory suggests that the primary issues identified were related to external visibility components rather than structural or drivetrain integrity. The vehicle has covered only 43,506 miles over approximately 15 years, which equates to an average of roughly 2,900 miles per year. This level of usage is significantly lower than the UK average for a vehicle of this age and type. Mechanically, such low annual accumulation can indicate infrequent operation, which may lead to different wear patterns than high-mileage vehicles. While there is less wear on high-friction components like brake pads, discs, and engine internals, vehicles used this sparingly can be subject to more significant degradation in rubber components, such as suspension bushes and seals, due to age and lack of regular thermal cycling. Prospective buyers should pay particular attention to the suspension system, specifically addressing the oil misting noted on the nearside rear shock absorber. During a test drive, listen for any knocking, clunking, or dull thudding sounds when driving over uneven surfaces or speed bumps, as this can indicate the shock absorber has lost its damping effectiveness. Additionally, monitor the vehicle for any excessive body roll or a feeling of instability during cornering, which would suggest the suspension is no longer providing adequate control. Given the low mileage and the specific advisory recorded, it is also prudent to inspect all rubber seals and suspension linkages for signs of perishing or cracking. Check the integrity of the wiper system and the clarity of the windscreen to ensure no recurrence of the 2014 failure. A thorough inspection of the underside for any signs of fluid leaks or excessive corrosion on the subframe and exhaust system is recommended, as long periods of stationary use can sometimes allow moisture to settle in crevices.
