2011 Vauxhall Astra 1.6L Petrol · LJ61 ACY

This Vauxhall Astra has maintained a consistent roadworthiness record over the past five years, with every MOT test—including the most recent on 6 June 2025 at 99,145 miles—passing without any defects or advisories. The absence of recurring issues across multiple tests suggests the vehicle has been subject to either diligent maintenance or a history of minor wear that did not escalate into test failures. While this does not guarantee current condition, the pattern indicates no obvious neglect in critical systems like brakes, suspension, or emissions. The final pass date, just over a year ago, means a full MOT inspection is due shortly, which will be essential to verify ongoing compliance with current standards. The recorded mileage of 99,145 miles over 15 years reflects an average of approximately 6,600 miles annually, a rate that aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age. There are no significant gaps in the MOT history, with tests conducted at roughly annual intervals, though the 2020–2021 period shows a slight slowdown in mileage accumulation—dropping from 73,280 to 76,176 miles over two years. This could imply reduced usage or a period of storage, which may have mitigated some wear. However, the steady progression since then suggests consistent driving habits without abrupt spikes that might indicate deferred maintenance. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an inspection of high-wear components that are not directly tested under MOT but critical to long-term reliability. Focus on the suspension, particularly the condition of coil springs, bushes, and dampers, as these are prone to fatigue over 150,000 miles. The brakes should be checked for uneven wear, binding calipers, or warped discs, especially if the vehicle has been driven at higher speeds or in heavy traffic. Structural integrity is another concern—examine the wheel arches, sills, and subframe for corrosion, as rust can compromise safety-critical elements. Finally, verify the integrity of the exhaust system, particularly around joints and supports, as leaks or detachment risks are not always captured in MOT tests. A pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic is strongly advised to assess these areas in detail.
