2003 Mercedes-Benz SL 5.0L Petrol · LL03 NHT

This Mercedes-Benz SL exhibits an exemplary record of roadworthiness, characterized by a complete absence of defects or advisories across its last four inspections. This stability is confirmed by the most recent clean pass on 2 October 2025, indicating a vehicle that has maintained a high standard of mechanical integrity without the typical degradation seen in cars of this vintage. The recorded mileage of 35,562 miles is remarkably low for a twenty-three-year-old vehicle, averaging roughly 1,546 miles per year. Such a usage profile suggests the car has spent significant periods in stationary storage rather than facing the typical wear and tear of daily commuting. While this preserves the drivetrain and interior, prolonged inactivity can often lead to the perishing of rubber seals or the seizing of components that require regular lubrication. Given the lack of flagged issues in the DVSA history, the physical inspection should focus on the operational fluidity of the vehicle's complex systems. During a test drive, pay close attention to the smooth operation of the convertible roof mechanism and the absence of any hesitation in the gear changes. Listen for any unusual knocks or clicks from the suspension linkages when navigating uneven surfaces, as these components can stiffen when not exercised frequently. Ensure the braking system feels consistent and free from binding, as calipers can occasionally seize on low-mileage examples. Check for any fluid leaks around the engine bay and transmission, as seals can shrink and leak after long periods of standing. Despite the clean MOT history, verifying the current condition of the tyres and the operational state of the air suspension is essential to ensure the vehicle is truly road-ready.
