2017 Ford Galaxy 2.0L Diesel · LP66 FKW

Against a backdrop of exceptionally high mileage for its age, this 2017 Ford Galaxy presents an MOT history that is, in test-result terms at least, remarkably clean. Across all eight recorded examinations spanning from December 2022 through to the most recent test on 2 March 2026, the vehicle has passed every inspection with no advisories, failures, or defects recorded on any occasion. Two tests within the first quarter of 2026 — on 21 January and 2 March — both returned clean passes, reinforcing the unbroken pattern of roadworthiness under the DVSA criteria. While MOT records alone cannot establish the broader mechanical condition of a vehicle, the absence of any flagged advisories over a four-year testing window is at least a neutral indicator that no component has yet deteriorated to the threshold of concern under standardised testing conditions. The defining feature of this vehicle's history, however, is its mileage profile. Covering 290,892 miles across approximately nine years equates to an average annual accumulation of around 32,000 miles, which is well above the typical private-use figure of 8,000 to 12,000 miles per year. This pattern is consistent with sustained high-mileage operation, possibly commercial, fleet, or long-distance commuting use, and would place significantly greater wear on the engine, transmission, clutch, turbocharger (where fitted), suspension bushes, coil springs, wheel bearings, and braking components than a lower-mileage equivalent. There are no extended gaps between tests that would suggest long periods off the road, and the testing frequency — roughly two examinations per year at peak, then spaced apart from late 2022 through to early 2026 — is consistent with a vehicle in continuous, hard use rather than one laid up between MOTs. For a prospective buyer, the clean advisory record should not be taken as a substitute for a thorough physical inspection, particularly given the mileage. Because no component has been individually flagged, there is no specific wear point highlighted by the MOT data to focus a test drive on. Instead, attention should fall on the systems most likely to have reached the end of their functional life under this usage regime. On a road test, listen for clonks, knocks, or rattles from the front and rear suspension over uneven surfaces, which would suggest worn bushes or tired coil springs common to high-mileage Galaxy examples. Check for any pulling under braking, vibration through the steering wheel, or a soft or spongy pedal, all of which could indicate worn brake discs or pads. At idle, watch for any blue or excessive grey exhaust smoke that might suggest internal engine wear, and listen for any timing chain rattle on cold start. Given the absence of any recorded advisories, the inspection should also be especially vigilant for issues that an MOT may not fully assess but which accumulate with high mileage. Pay close attention to the condition of the dual-mass flywheel or clutch feel, looking for shudder or judder when pulling away in first or reverse. Check that the automatic gearbox (where fitted) changes smoothly through all gears without hesitation or flare. Inspect the underside thoroughly for any oil seepage from the engine sump, differential, or power steering rack, and examine the brake pipes, fuel lines, and suspension subframes for any surface corrosion, as these areas are not always fully visible from above. Finally, a compression test or diagnostic scan for any stored fault codes would be a prudent precaution given that this Galaxy has accumulated nearly 300,000 miles, regardless of how clean its MOT sheet appears.
