2017 BMW F 800 0.8L Petrol · LT17 PTX

This BMW F 800 has maintained a clean MOT history with no defects or advisories across all five tests, including the most recent examination on 2026-02-09—just five months ago. The absence of recurring issues suggests the vehicle has been subjected to consistent, if not rigorous, maintenance, though the low mileage makes it difficult to confirm whether critical components like suspension bushes, coil springs, or brake calipers have been replaced proactively. The tester’s failure to note even minor advisories implies either diligent servicing or a vehicle that has not yet reached the wear thresholds common for its age. The recorded mileage of 12,591 miles over nine years—approximately 1,400 miles annually—is unusually low for a motorcycle of this vintage, particularly given the 2022-2023 gap where mileage jumped from 6,288 to 10,563 in just under a year. This suggests either prolonged storage or very light use, which could mitigate some wear but also raises questions about fluid changes, chain tension, and battery health. The 2022 test at 6,288 miles, followed by a 4,275-mile increase in under 15 months, indicates no extended periods of neglect, though the lack of mileage between 2023 and 2024 (10,563 to 11,909) hints at another potential storage phase. Given the clean MOT record, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of the suspension geometry—particularly the rear swingarm pivots and front fork seals—for signs of dryness or corrosion, as these are often overlooked on low-mileage bikes. The brakes, while never failing, should be checked for uneven wear or binding calipers, especially if the vehicle has been stored with the wheels off the ground. The chain and sprocket condition must also be scrutinised, as prolonged inactivity can lead to premature wear or rust. Finally, verify the battery’s charge capacity, as low usage may have allowed for sulphation, and inspect the exhaust system for any subtle cracks or corrosion that could indicate underlying structural fatigue.
