2015 Mercedes-Benz C 2.1L Diesel · M21 DAT

The vehicle’s most recent MOT test on 2025-07-17 at 47,919 miles confirmed full compliance with all roadworthiness criteria, with no defects or advisories recorded. This marks the fourth consecutive annual pass, suggesting a consistent pattern of either meticulous maintenance or exceptionally low wear. The sole anomaly in the history—a failed test on 2023-07-06 at 42,752 miles—was unusual given the immediate retest passing the following day at 42,754 miles, implying a procedural oversight rather than a recurring mechanical issue. No structural or safety-critical components were flagged in any test, though the absence of advisories in recent years does not preclude hidden wear in areas like suspension bushes or drivetrain seals. The recorded mileage of 47,919 miles over 11 years—roughly 4,356 miles annually—is notably low for a vehicle of this age, particularly given the Mercedes-Benz C’s typical usage patterns. The gap between tests remains consistent at approximately 12 months, with no abrupt spikes or prolonged periods of inactivity. The 2023 test dates (06-07) show a near-instantaneous retest, which may indicate a minor administrative delay rather than a pattern of deferred maintenance. While low mileage generally correlates with reduced wear on consumables, it can also signal extended periods of non-use, potentially accelerating corrosion in underbody components or fluid degradation if the vehicle was stored without proper care. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an in-person inspection of suspension components, particularly the rear bushes and coil springs, which are common wear points on this model and often go unnoticed without a thorough examination. The brakes, though never failed, should be assessed for uneven wear or binding calipers, as repeated low-mileage periods could lead to corrosion or stiffness in hydraulic systems. Underbody inspection for corrosion—especially around the sills, subframe, and exhaust system—is critical, as prolonged stationary use may have exacerbated rust development. Finally, fluid levels and condition in the engine bay, transmission, and differential should be checked, as stagnant fluids can degrade prematurely even with minimal driving. The lack of advisories in recent tests does not eliminate the need for these checks.
