1995 Land Rover Discovery 2.5L Diesel · M734 CWK

Persistent corrosion and fluid seepage issues define the mechanical profile of this Land Rover, with a history of advisories spanning from 2006 to 2009. The records show a recurring theme of structural and fluid-related concerns, specifically regarding brake pipe corrosion, body mounting rust, and power steering seepage. While the most recent recorded test on 04 April 2009 was a pass, the presence of multiple advisories for exhaust leaks, brake pipe corrosion, and power steering pump seepage indicates a vehicle that has required ongoing attention to its sealing and structural integrity. The vehicle has covered 158,535 miles over its 31-year lifespan, which equates to an average annual usage of approximately 5,114 miles. This represents a relatively low mileage accumulation for a vehicle of this age and type. While lower mileage often implies less wear on drivetrain components and engine internals, it can also correlate with longer periods of inactivity, which may exacerbate the oxidation and corrosion issues noted in the MOT history, such as the body mounting and brake pipe deterioration. A physical inspection should prioritise the chassis and underside, specifically focusing on the areas identified with corrosion behind the nearside and offside front wheel body mountings. Given the history of corroded steel brake pipes and offside rear brake pipe issues, a thorough check of the entire braking system is essential to ensure no further degradation has occurred. During a test drive, pay close attention to the steering response and listen for any whining or groaning noises that could indicate the power steering pump seepage noted in 2009 has progressed to a more significant failure. Suspension and exhaust health also require scrutiny based on previous advisories regarding nearside rear anti-roll bar bush play and nearside front shock absorber oil misting. On the road, listen for any knocking or clunking sounds when traversing uneven surfaces, which would suggest worn suspension bushes or dampers. Additionally, monitor the exhaust system for any changes in engine note or the presence of fumes in the cabin, as the 2009 record flagged a minor exhaust gas leak that may have worsened over time.
