2014 Volvo XC60 2.0L Diesel · NJ64 PZR

The 2014 Volvo XC60 has maintained a clean MOT history with no defects recorded across all four tests, most recently passing on 24 June 2025 at 208,285 miles. This suggests the vehicle has been consistently roadworthy under standard MOT scrutiny, though the absence of advisories or minor faults does not preclude underlying issues requiring closer inspection. The most recent test date—just over a year ago—is acceptable for a vehicle of this age and mileage, though buyers should note that the next MOT is due shortly after the current date (26 July 2026), meaning the vehicle has already exceeded its three-year interval. The mileage progression reveals an unusual pattern: a significant jump from 113,790 miles in June 2022 to 200,147 miles in June 2023—a 86,357-mile increase in a single year—before continuing at a steady rate of around 2,500 miles annually. This abrupt spike suggests either intensive use or a period of underreporting, which could imply deferred maintenance. The average annual mileage of 17,357 miles is high for a vehicle of this age, potentially accelerating wear on suspension components, brake systems, and drivetrain elements. Given the clean MOT record, the primary focus for an in-person inspection should centre on high-wear areas that are not routinely tested. The suspension—particularly rear coil springs, bushes, and strut mounts—should be examined for uneven sagging or excessive play, as the rapid mileage accumulation may have stressed these components. Brake discs and pads, while not flagged in MOTs, should be checked for uneven wear or binding calipers, especially if the vehicle has experienced heavy braking loads. Structural integrity, including wheel arches, subframe, and sills, warrants scrutiny for corrosion, particularly in areas prone to salt damage. The absence of advisories does not guarantee these areas are unaffected, so visual and functional checks are essential.
