2006 Volkswagen Golf 1.9L Diesel · NU06 AHF

This Volkswagen Golf’s most recent MOT test on 2025-11-04—just six months ago—shows a clean pass with no recorded defects, though it is unusual to have both a pass and a fail on the same date and mileage. The absence of advisories or recurring faults in the last two tests suggests the vehicle has not experienced any persistent mechanical issues requiring attention. However, the repeated failures in November 2024 and 2025 at nearly identical mileages (156,404 and 162,255) without explanation raises suspicion of administrative errors or potential undocumented issues. The lack of advisories in the most recent pass implies no imminent concerns, but the pattern of failures warrants scrutiny of components that commonly fail at this mileage—particularly brakes, suspension, and exhaust systems. The recorded mileage of 162,255 miles over 20 years aligns with typical usage for this age, averaging around 8,100 miles annually. There are no significant gaps or spikes in mileage between tests, with the most recent interval covering 5,816 miles between November 2024 and November 2025. This consistency suggests the vehicle has been driven regularly without prolonged periods of neglect. However, the identical mileage for the 2025 pass and fail is anomalous and may indicate an oversight in test documentation rather than a mechanical trend. Given the lack of advisories in the most recent MOT, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of the suspension components, particularly the rear bushes and coil springs, which are prone to wear at this mileage. The repeated failures in November tests could hint at underlying brake issues, such as warped discs or binding calipers, which often go unnoticed until a test. Exhaust emissions systems should also be checked for leaks or failing catalytic converters, as these are common failure points in older Golf models. Structural integrity, particularly around wheel arches and sills, should be examined for corrosion, as this is a critical but often overlooked risk in a vehicle of this age.
