2012 Land Rover Freelander 2.2L Diesel · OV12 WDJ

The most recent MOT test conducted on this 2012 Land Rover Freelander was completed on 2025-11-12 and resulted in a PASS. This consistent passing record over the past five tests indicates a stable maintenance trend, suggesting the vehicle has been well cared for and is likely to retain its reliability. However, the accumulated mileage of 106,540 miles—approximately 7,610 miles per year—reflects a usage pattern that aligns with the typical wear expected for a vehicle of this age. While this rate is not unusually high, it does point to increased exposure to mechanical stress, particularly on components such as the suspension, brakes, and drivetrain. The vehicle’s age and mileage together warrant careful inspection during the test drive. Owners should pay close attention to the condition of the tyres, checking for any signs of perishing or uneven wear patterns that could indicate alignment issues or suspension problems. Brake performance is critical here; listen for any shuddering or grinding noises, and inspect the brake discs for corrosion or binding, which could affect stopping distance and safety. Additionally, the 12V battery should be tested for health, as age-related degradation can lead to poor cranking or electrical faults. Fluid levels and condition should also be verified, especially oil, coolant, and brake fluid, as these are essential for smooth operation and longevity. Given the clean MOT history and the vehicle’s age, the buyer should focus on practical checks that reflect typical maintenance needs for a 2012 model. Inspect the exterior for any corrosion, particularly around the exhaust and underbody, and ensure the structural integrity remains intact. Verify that all service book stamps are present and that the service intervals align with the manufacturer’s recommendations. Since the mileage is relatively high, it’s advisable to confirm that the vehicle has received regular servicing and that any wear indicators are addressed promptly. Overall, with diligent attention to these areas, the Land Rover Freelander remains a viable option, but proactive maintenance will be key to preserving its performance and value.
