2016 Kymco Agility 0.1L Petrol · PL66 XAX

The most recent official DVSA MOT test for this 2016 Kymco Agility was conducted on 23 July 2024, resulting in a Pass with no defects or advisories recorded against the vehicle. Reviewing the recent test history, the scooter has achieved three consecutive Pass certificates at the 2022, 2023, and 2024 tests, each without any advisories being noted by the examiner. This consistent clean sheet across three annual examinations indicates a stable and well-maintained mechanical condition over the recorded period, with no emerging wear patterns flagged on official inspection. For a prospective buyer, this represents a reassuring baseline, although it is worth noting that the absence of advisories simply means no items reached the threshold for flagging rather than that the scooter is in perfect mechanical order. In terms of recorded mileage, the vehicle shows 17,482 miles over approximately ten years of age, which equates to a very modest annual average of around 1,748 miles per year. This places the Kymco firmly in the low-mileage category for its age and suggests either light commuter use, occasional leisure riding, or potentially extended periods of standing between uses. Low annual mileage of this nature is generally favourable for major drivetrain components, reducing wear on the variator, drive belt, clutch shoes, and engine internals, but it does introduce specific concerns related to ageing rather than usage. Significant gaps between MoT tests, where mileage progression is minimal, can indicate that the scooter may have been laid up for considerable intervals, which carries its own mechanical implications for two-wheeled vehicles. Given the clean test record and the low usage profile, a prospective buyer should focus attention on age-related degradation rather than wear-and-tear items. Tyres on a ten-year-old scooter warrant particularly careful physical inspection, as the rubber compound will perish and crack from age regardless of tread depth, with sidewall checking for dry rot and any visible crazing being essential before purchase. Similarly, the brake caliper mechanisms and disc surfaces are prone to corrosion and seizing when a scooter stands idle for long periods, so the brakes should be checked for binding, uneven operation, or spongy feel during a test ride. Standing also affects the 12-volt battery, which loses capacity over time even when unused, so battery health should be verified and any signs of difficulty starting or dim lighting investigated. The fuel system, carburettor or injector, and fuel lines may also suffer from varnish deposits or moisture accumulation during periods of inactivity, potentially causing poor cold starting or hesitation. Beyond these standing-related concerns, time-based servicing items should be confirmed regardless of the low mileage. Engine oil and transmission fluid degrade chemically with age and should be changed according to calendar intervals rather than mileage alone, so the service book or receipts should evidence regular oil changes. The drive belt and variator rollers, while unlikely heavily worn, still have a finite service life and the belt should be inspected for cracking, fraying, or hardening. Coolant, if applicable, brake fluid, and any hydraulic fluids should be checked for condition and replaced if their age is unknown, as moisture absorption compromises braking performance over time. Finally, general items such as the condition of cables, levers, switches, suspension linkages, and electrical connections should be examined for corrosion or stiffness, and a thorough test ride listening for any irregular noises from the transmission or suspension will help confirm the roadworthy condition suggested by the clean MoT history.
