The vehicle’s most recent MOT test on 2026-05-13 confirms it remains roadworthy with no defects recorded at just 4,393 miles. This represents a stable maintenance trend over the past three years, with no advisories or failings to suggest deferred repairs or neglect. The absence of recurring issues—even minor ones—indicates the bike has likely been stored or used sparingly, which may have mitigated wear on high-stress components like brakes, suspension, or drivetrain. However, the 2023 test’s warning about front tyres worn close to the legal limit (5.2.3 (e)) suggests even low-mileage bikes require vigilance, particularly on consumables that degrade over time regardless of usage. The recorded mileage of 4,393 miles over nearly 14 years—an average of around 314 miles annually—is exceptionally low for a vehicle of this age. The gap between the 2023 and 2025 tests (a 14-month interval with just 144 miles accumulated) and the subsequent 2026 test (another 336 miles over 12 months) implies prolonged periods of inactivity. While this reduces mechanical wear, it also raises questions about storage conditions, potential corrosion from moisture, or degradation of fluids and elastomers (such as brake hoses, throttle cables, or suspension seals) that can occur even when a bike is not ridden. The lack of MOT tests between 2021 and 2023 further complicates assessment, as no data exists to confirm whether earlier issues were addressed or if the bike was simply not tested during that period. Given the sparse but clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an in-person inspection of components not directly tested by the MOT, such as the suspension system—particularly the rear shock absorbers and steering dampers, which are prone to drying out when stored. The brakes, while not failed, should be checked for uneven pad wear or glazing, as low-mileage bikes often experience uneven usage patterns. Corrosion is another critical concern; inspect the frame, especially around the fuel tank and exhaust mounts, for signs of rust that could compromise structural integrity. The electrical system, including the battery and wiring loom, should also be tested, as prolonged inactivity can lead to failed connections or dead cells. Finally, verify the condition of the tyres, as the 2023 warning suggests they may now be at or beyond the legal limit, and check for uneven wear that could indicate alignment or suspension issues.
