2008 Ford Fiesta 1.2L Petrol · RV58 ABY

The vehicle currently lacks a valid MOT certificate, as the most recent test occurred on 3 March 2023 at 99,286 miles. This gap of over sixteen months indicates the car has likely been off the road or unregistered since that date. The maintenance history appears clean on the surface, with no recorded advisories or failures related to mechanical defects in the provided data. However, the February 2023 failure followed by a pass just ten days later suggests a potential administrative error or a minor rectification that was not logged, rather than a significant mechanical intervention. The recorded mileage of 99,286 over eighteen years averages approximately 5,500 miles per annum, which is relatively low for a vehicle of this vintage. The history shows a period of very light usage between 2020 and 2021, where the odometer increased by only three miles, followed by a more significant jump of roughly 13,000 miles between March 2021 and March 2022. This pattern of sporadic use, combined with the extended period of inactivity since March 2023, poses a risk of seized components and degraded rubber seals that do not always appear on standard MOT inspections. Prospective buyers should prioritise a thorough physical inspection of the chassis and subframes, as long-term storage often accelerates corrosion in Ford models of this era. The suspension bushes, ball joints, and coil springs require careful scrutiny for perishing or surface rust, as these components frequently deteriorate during periods of disuse. You should also check the brake discs for heavy pitting or oxidation, as the lack of recent road use will almost certainly have caused the friction surfaces to seize or corrode. Verify the condition of the timing belt, as the age of the vehicle makes this a critical maintenance item regardless of the relatively low mileage.
