1998 Ford Fiesta 1.2L Petrol · S98 STW

The 1998 Ford Fiesta demonstrates stable roadworthiness, with all five consecutive MOT tests from 2021 to 2025 recording no defects. The most recent 2025 test at 92,925 miles confirmed compliance, indicating consistent maintenance and no emerging mechanical issues. The absence of advisories or failures across this period suggests the vehicle has been well-kept, with no recurring faults in critical systems such as brakes, steering, or suspension. The owner’s adherence to annual testing aligns with a cautious approach to vehicle care, though the lack of recorded defects may also reflect minimal usage. The mileage progression shows a steady annual increase of approximately 3,000 to 3,500 miles, aligning with the vehicle’s low average of 3,319 miles per year. This pattern suggests infrequent use, with no significant gaps between tests or sudden spikes in mileage that might indicate excessive wear. The 2023 test at 86,379 miles and 2024 test at 89,806 miles reveal a gradual accumulation, consistent with a car likely driven sparingly. While low mileage reduces strain on components like tyres and brakes, it may also mean certain systems—such as the engine or transmission—have not been fully exercised, potentially masking long-term wear. A buyer should verify the condition of suspension components, including bushes and coil springs, which can degrade over time without regular stress. The absence of brake-related advisories is reassuring, but a physical inspection of discs and calipers for corrosion or uneven wear is recommended. Structural integrity should also be assessed, as older vehicles may develop rust in hidden areas. The lack of recorded issues does not eliminate these risks, particularly given the car’s age and low mileage, which could lead to undetected deterioration in non-essential systems.
