2019 Volkswagen Tiguan Match TSI EVO 1.5L Petrol · SC69 VRL

A consistent record of MOT pass results with only isolated, minor advisories defines the roadworthiness profile of this 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan. Across all five recorded tests spanning 2022 through 2026, the vehicle has notched clean passes, with the most recent examination on 22 January 2026 recording no defects at all. The only advisory items across the entire DVLA history are a nearside front tyre worn close to the legal limit and on its edge in April 2023, and a defective windscreen wiper blade in January 2025. Neither of these issues recurred on subsequent tests, suggesting they were addressed at the time and have not developed into chronic faults. The absence of any structural, suspension, braking, or corrosion advisories is particularly notable for a vehicle of this age, indicating no emerging mechanical patterns that a buyer needs to be wary of. Against an expected average of roughly 9,000 to 12,000 miles per year for a family SUV of this vintage, the recorded 33,749 miles equates to around 4,821 miles annually, which is markedly low. The annual accumulation rate points to a vehicle that has seen either genuinely light use, frequent short trips, or possibly extended periods of standing between drives. The MOT testing cadence itself is somewhat irregular, with a notable gap between the August 2022 test and the April 2023 test, suggesting the vehicle may have been off the road or unused for a period. Mechanically, low annual mileage and irregular use tend to produce wear patterns quite different from high-mileage cars; brake discs and calipers can suffer from surface corrosion due to infrequent operation, rubber components such as suspension bushes, drive shafts, and engine mounts can harden and crack from lack of regular movement, and the tyres themselves may age internally even if the tread depth appears acceptable. Given the nearside front tyre advisory in 2023, attention to even tread wear across all four corners is worthwhile. Given the limited advisory history, the buyer-facing inspection priorities should focus on the specific wear items already flagged, plus the secondary effects of low-mileage use. On a test drive, listen carefully for any knocking or creaking from the front suspension over uneven surfaces, particularly from the nearside where the previous tyre wear was noted, as uneven edge wear can sometimes indicate worn wishbone bushes, top mounts, or tracking irregularities that were not severe enough to trigger an advisory. Check that the brake pedal feel is firm and that the vehicle pulls up in a straight line without judder, as lightly used calipers can develop uneven pad transfer to the discs. Examine the nearside front tyre in particular for any remaining uneven wear pattern on the inner or outer shoulder, and inspect the sidewalls for cracking which can occur on lower-use vehicles. Additional checks should include a thorough visual inspection underneath the vehicle for any signs of fresh corrosion on the subframe, brake lines, and suspension arms, particularly given that no corrosion advisories have ever been recorded, meaning any new rust could be an early warning. With the low annual mileage, the 12V battery is worth having its resting voltage and load-tested condition checked, as batteries on lightly used vehicles frequently fail prematurely due to insufficient charging cycles. The 1.5 TSI Evo engine should be started from cold and watched for any signs of misfire, excessive vibration, or oil warning light activity, and the oil filler cap should be inspected for the milky residue that occasionally affects these units if used predominantly for short journeys. Finally, verify the service history documentation, as low-mileage Tiguans with extended gaps between services are at greater risk of timing chain stretch, oil degradation, and turbocharger carbon build-up than those maintained on schedule.
