2021 Toyota Aygo 1.0L Petrol · SD71 GXL

The Toyota Aygo presents a clean and stable roadworthiness record over the past nine months, with no defects recorded in its three most recent MOT tests. The July 2025 retest—just five days apart at 12,823 and 12,828 miles—confirms the vehicle passed without advisories, suggesting no immediate mechanical or structural concerns. This consistency, coupled with the absence of recurring faults, points to a well-maintained example, at least in terms of the core safety-critical systems checked under the MOT framework. The lack of advisories on corrosion, suspension wear, or brake binding further reinforces that the vehicle has either been stored or driven lightly enough to avoid accelerated component fatigue. The mileage data reveals a notably low annual average of around 2,566 miles, which is well below the UK fleet average for a vehicle of this age. Between November 2024 (10,870 miles) and July 2025 (12,828 miles), the Aygo covered just 1,958 miles in eight months—a pace that implies either infrequent use, extended periods of inactivity, or both. Such low mileage reduces wear on consumables like tyres and brake pads, but it also raises questions about potential fluid degradation (e.g., brake fluid, coolant) or rubber component hardening (e.g., suspension bushes, hoses) due to prolonged storage. The absence of mileage accumulation between tests also means there’s limited recent data to assess long-term component endurance under typical driving conditions. Given the sparse but flawless MOT history, a prospective buyer should prioritise a hands-on inspection of components typically affected by low mileage or intermittent use. Check the condition of suspension bushes—particularly the front lower arms and rear track control arms—for cracking or hardening, as these can stiffen over time even without high mileage. Inspect the brake system for fluid leaks or spongy brake pedal feel, since stagnant fluid can absorb moisture and reduce effectiveness. Examine the tyres for uneven wear patterns, which might indicate misalignment from infrequent driving, and verify the condition of the battery terminals for corrosion. While the MOT record offers reassurance, these areas are less likely to be flagged in a test but can still pose risks if neglected. Finally, the vehicle’s exhaust emissions and structural integrity should be visually confirmed, as these are not always caught in a basic MOT. A pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic would be advisable to ensure no hidden issues have developed during periods of disuse. The absence of faults in the MOT history is a positive sign, but the low mileage suggests some components may not have been stressed enough to reveal latent problems—meaning a thorough check remains essential.
