2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA 1.6L Petrol · SS16 FTS

The most recent DVSA MOT test for this 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA was conducted on 20 March 2026 and resulted in a pass with no defects or advisories recorded. Reviewing the full five-year MOT history available, every annual test from 2022 through 2026 has returned a clean pass with no recorded advisories, failures, or minor defects. This consistency suggests a stable and well-maintained vehicle from a roadworthiness perspective, with no emerging patterns of wear or deterioration flagged by the inspecting station over consecutive tests. The absence of recurring advisories across multiple tests is a positive indicator, though it should be noted that a clean MOT does not equate to a comprehensive mechanical inspection. The recorded mileage of 60,314 miles over approximately seven years equates to an average of around 8,616 miles annually, which is broadly typical for a vehicle of this age and segment. This neither suggests excessive high-mileage wear nor extended periods of standing unused, both of which present their own distinct mechanical concerns. The annual MOT records indicate the vehicle has been used regularly enough to keep systems active and components functioning, without the sort of rapid mileage accumulation that would accelerate wear on drivetrain, suspension, or braking components. That said, even moderate annual mileage over seven years will produce age-related degradation in rubber, fluids, and electrical components regardless of distance covered. Given the clean MOT history and typical mileage profile, a prospective buyer should focus on age-related rather than mileage-related deterioration during inspection. Tyres warrant particular attention, specifically sidewall perishing and cracking from age rather than just tread depth, as rubber compounds degrade over time even on lightly used vehicles. The 12V battery is likely approaching or past its typical service life of five to seven years, so its state of charge and holding capacity should be tested. Brake discs may exhibit surface corrosion or lipping from intermittent use and seasonal standing, and calipers can bind through lack of regular exercise, so the vehicle should be road-tested with deliberate moderate braking to check for shudder, pull, or uneven response. Coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid all degrade on a calendar basis and should be confirmed as recently serviced in line with manufacturer schedules. During a physical inspection and test drive, listen for suspension clunks or knocks over speed humps and uneven surfaces, which would indicate worn bushes, drop links, or coil springs on a vehicle of this age. Inspect the exhaust system for corrosion at joints and mounting points, check all visible fluid lines for any signs of leakage or staining, and verify the operation of all electrical systems including infotainment, sensors, and lighting. Request evidence of routine servicing in the form of stamped service books or digital records to confirm that time-based items such as air filters, cabin filters, spark plugs, and fluid changes have been attended to at the correct intervals. Finally, a pre-purchase inspection by a Mercedes-Benz specialist or independent technician would be strongly advisable to identify any developing issues not surfaced during routine MOT testing.
