2007 Hyundai Tucson 2.0L Diesel · ST56 WRP

Recurring wear in the front suspension and drivetrain components defines the mechanical history of this vehicle, though it maintained a pass in its last recorded test on 7 March 2023. While there were several years of clean certificates, the record shows a tendency for front-end linkages and boots to deteriorate, with a failure in 2018 regarding suspension arm bushes and more recent advisories concerning the anti-roll bar and prop shaft. An accumulation of 129,249 miles over nineteen years represents a typical usage pattern of approximately 6,803 miles per year. This steady rate of use suggests that the vehicle has avoided the risks associated with prolonged standing, but it also means that high-wear consumables and drivetrain components have been subjected to consistent operational stress over nearly two decades. Particular attention should be paid to the front suspension and drivetrain, as the 2023 record flagged a deteriorated offside outer prop shaft constant velocity boot and slight play in the nearside front anti-roll bar ball joint. During a test drive, listen for rhythmic clicking or popping sounds when steering through tight turns, which would indicate the CV joint has been compromised by the failed boot. Additionally, any knocking or clunking sounds when driving over uneven surfaces or speed bumps may indicate that the previously noted anti-roll bar play or the 2018 suspension arm bush issues have resurfaced or worsened. A visual inspection of the engine bay and the ground beneath the vehicle is necessary to assess the oil leak noted as not excessive in 2019. Check for fresh oil misting around the engine block and sump to determine if this leak has persisted or increased in severity. Ensure the registration plate lighting is fully functional, as a minor defect was recorded in the most recent test.
