2015 Mercedes-Benz C 2.1L Diesel · ST65 EWB

A broadly clean MOT history is recorded for this 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class across its six tests, with only minor failures that are not symptomatic of structural or mechanical deterioration. The most recent test on 2022-08-11 resulted in a pass with no defects recorded, and the earlier failure on the same date was limited to a major defect concerning the windscreen washer providing insufficient washer liquid. Both this and the 2018 failure were trivial in nature, the 2018 event involving an illegible front registration plate inscription and a tyre pressure monitoring system warning lamp indicating a fault, alongside a minor advisory for an offside rear tyre worn to 3mm. The advisory history is similarly restrained, restricted to a single front brake pad wear advisory in 2021 and the tyre advisory from 2018, suggesting that routine consumable wear has been flagged rather than any chronic component decline. Overall the trend is one of stable roadworthiness with no recurring fault patterns. Annual mileage accumulation is reasonably typical for the vehicle's age, with the 72,866 recorded miles over approximately 11 years equating to around 6,624 miles per year. This rate does not raise immediate concerns regarding long periods of standing, which can affect brake discs, tyres, suspension bushes, and 12V battery condition through disuse, nor does it suggest particularly heavy use that would accelerate wear on drivetrain or braking components. The gap between the 2019 and 2020 tests is unremarkable and likely reflects the COVID-19 period extension, while the gap between 2018 and 2021 is partly explained by the 2020 test being conducted out of cycle. There are no sudden or unexplained jumps in mileage that would warrant further investigation. Given the advisory recorded on the front brake pads in 2021, the buyer should be alert to the condition of the braking system given that further mileage has accumulated since. On a test drive, listen for any grinding or squealing from the front calipers, particularly under light or cold braking, and confirm that the pedal feel remains firm without excessive travel or judder under firm application. The offside rear tyre advisory from 2018 should prompt inspection of the current rear tyres for uneven shoulder wear, which on a C-Class can indicate rear suspension bushes, trailing arms, or alignment geometry issues. Check the tread depth across the rear axle and look for any feathering or cupping patterns. The 2018 advisory concerning tyre pressure monitoring system warning lamp illumination is also worth addressing, as this could indicate either a perished valve stem seal, a faulty sensor within the wheel, or simply a system that has not been recalibrated after a tyre change. Before purchase, confirm that the TPMS warning lamp functions correctly on ignition and that all four sensors respond after a re-inflation or rotation. The earlier registration plate defect is trivial and likely resolved by replacement, while the windscreen washer failure on the most recent visit is similarly inexpensive to remedy but worth confirming has been corrected. A general walkaround should also include inspection of the underbody for corrosion, particularly around suspension subframes and brake pipe runs, as Mercedes-Benz vehicles of this era can be susceptible to surface rust in these areas, though no such advisories have been recorded to date.
